Cascade du Rouget, Cirque du fer a Cheval

A 1-day motorcycle loop around Cascade du Rouget, Cirque du Fer à Cheval, combining scenic roads, viewpoints and varied terrain, ideal for an enjoyable day ride starting from our base.

We start directly on the Salève to gain altitude.

It then goes to Annecy then to La Clusaz, then climb the Col de la Colombiere.

It then descends Cluses, then towards Samoens.

Arriving in Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, it turns right to the Rouget waterfall.

You can stop at L'Auberge de la Cascade (open June to September, info and reservations: 04 50 34 19 94), whose magnificent terrace overlooking the waterfall, and acts as a giant natural mist, ideal for high temperatures.

We return to Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, to head the Cirque du fer à cheval.

Access is regulated in high season (parking fee), the tourist office will tell you about the prices and dates (04 50 34 49 36).

Looping East Valley Giffre is a huge limestone amphitheater of 4 to 5 km of development, whose steep cliffs can reach 500 to 700 m high. It is the largest alpine mountain Cirque. Dominated by the Horn of Chamois. It builds on the cut sides of Tenneverge (2985 m). In June, there are more than thirty waterfalls gushing from the walls.

You can have a drink or lunch at Chalet-Restaurant (reservation info: 04 50 30 32 59 restauranteferacheval@free.fr) Take time to walk around, you can leave your jackets or helmets at the restaurant for a more enjoyable walk .

To return, you can go directly Taninges and St Jeoire (42 km), or make a detour via the Col de Joux Plane Morzine and the Green Valley up to Bonne.
