5 days Route Napoléon, Provence, Verdon & Luberon
A 5-day motorcycle tour following the legendary Route Napoléon, the Verdon Gorges, Provence and the Luberon, combining scenic roads, mountain passes and breathtaking viewpoints.

Recommended period: May to November (check opening of the Col de la Cayolle)
Ride south to Provence via the historic Route Napoléon and discover the spectacular roads of the Vercors.
Follow the Emperor’s route, explore the Verdon Canyon, breathe in the lavender-scented air of the Luberon, then return north through the Chartreuse and Bauges mountains.
Day 1
Motorcycle pickup in Ville-la-Grand, then ascent of the Salève.
Cross Frangy and ride along the western shore of Lake Bourget.
Avoid Chambéry via the Mont du Chat, then follow Lake Aiguebelette.
Cross the Chartreuse massif from east to west.
Arrival in Eybens for the night at Château de la Commanderie.

Day 2
Join the famous Route Napoléon (N85) heading south towards Gap.
After Gap, ride east to Lake Serre-Ponçon and Barcelonnette.
Climb the Col de la Cayolle (2296 m) through the Bachelard valley in the Mercantour National Park.
Overnight in Valberg at Logis L’Adrech de Lagas.

Day 3
Head south through the Cians Gorge with its red cliffs.
Reach Castellane and the shores of the Verdon, then ride through the Verdon Gorges.
Pass Moustiers-Sainte-Marie and Riez before entering Provence and its lavender fields.
After Manosque, enter the Luberon Regional Natural Park.
Overnight near Carpentras at Château de Mazan, at the foot of Mont Ventoux.

Day 4
Climb Mont Ventoux (1912 m), the “Giant of Provence”, offering a 360° panorama.
Ride north through Nyons, Dieulefit and Crest.
Enter the Vercors Regional Natural Park.
After the Col de Rousset, ride the spectacular roads of Combe Laval and the Grand Goulets.
Overnight at Hôtel-Spa Les Clarines.

Day 5
Head north, bypassing Grenoble to the west, towards the Chartreuse massif.
Cross the Col de Cucheron and Col du Granier.
Skirt Chambéry to the southeast and cross the Bauges mountains.
Ride along the Semnoz before reaching the shores of Lake Annecy.
Return to Ville-la-Grand.
